without naming companies, and in Canadian funds, they average from $4.95 for older, smaller one's, up to $75 each issue (Akira -6pts and GitS -1pt). Smaller manga's have about a .50c markup, and large have up to $5 markup (to cover shipping costs from the US).. yeah, it's a little much, but he's the only Comic store in town (not many Anime/Manga fans here).
At least he doesn't do like the other 'comic store' ... DBZ VHS dub box set, about $200 (4 or 5 tapes)... he will buy boxed sets for cheap, open them, and sell the tapes/dvd for $40+ each, once I found that out I never went back. |

I did some snooping and the older series' sell for $10-15 But newer manga sells for $5-8.
So does everyone agree this is roughly the average? |

The way I see it. It all depends on where you are. In an asian area obviously it's cheaper than a normal newsagent or comic shop.

Luckly, Oxford Comics, our friendly neighborhood store, gives a 15% discount on manga to members of our anime club, Anime O-Tekku.
$8 bucks a pop. Like nice mixed drinks... |

If I go to my local Borders, they sell manga for $10 - $15. The local comic shop sells what limited manga they have for several bucks more, that's why I never shop there.

Does anybody read home made manga from local comic shops? How much do those go for?

Yes, usually under $ 2.50. It's more of a hobby than a profit thing for most people though.

I buy them for about 100 yen each, but then again, I'm in Japan right now.
Back in the States, I think the average price was around $12 per volume. At least where I lived. |

For the SJ graphic novels, it's usually $7.95, 10 dollars for most Tokyopop and some Viz and 15 for some others.

$8-10 if it's from something like B & N. However, the local comic shop guy is really cool and will sell manga to my freakish buddies and I for about $2.
