YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is THE game I wanted. I even wanted it more than the new Pokemon, Ducktales, and Animal Crossing combined. I cannot wait!!!
I guess this means I'll have to pick up a 3DS now...

Well, isn't this a nice shocker! Hopefully they plan on dubbing this; it's so weird to hear Layton without his British VA.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! All you Ace Attorney and Layton fans, prepare! I sorta recently finally beat this game in Japanese and all I have to say is... it is both my favorite Layton game AND my favorite Ace Attorney game. The storytelling ends up being so powerful and the mystery was surprisingly even crazier than Layton's 3rd game (Time Travel)! Oh, and despite what someone on Kotaku once said, the game does NOT have the the full number of puzzles as Layton usually has. There are about 5 court cases for Ace Attorney and 70-80 puzzles for Layton. However, there's a series of 12 bonus DLC chapters (free in Japan) that take place 1 year after the end of the game, all of which not only revisit the setting of the game to say hi to the characters again, but also solve the one unsolved mystery in the game AND break the 4th wall... at the same time. It is quite amusing.
Definitely recommended to anyone who likes one or both of the respective game series.

Ah, my wife will be pleased. She's a big fan of both the Layton and Wright franchises.
Happy wife = happy family.

I'm a huge AA fan. Never played the Layton games before, but I guess I'll start.

Level 5 are the ones who have the marketing rights to this game and they typically don't resort to digital-only releases of big franchise games. Layton is involved here, at least, so I'd guess the game would be released physically, even if Capcom doesn't like releasing Phoenix Wright physically.
