last night i watched "South Park" the episode when they buy all these martial arts equipment and actualy the South Park changes in some kind of Japanese style cartoon, this made me want to watch more of these style of anime.

since there is so much anime around i couldn't decide which one to start watching...

i am looking for something similiar to Dragon Ball Z, but maybe little bit more mature.
if u are around my age(22) which anime would u start watching? or maybe Manga?

[EDIT: Added some words to make your topic a little more specific. -TK]

You would probably go for something like Bleach or Naruto, those are big right now. So is One Piece, but it's way more whimsical than what you probably want.

I would recommend grappler baki because its a good fighting anime. The picture is good, the words they choose to use are good, the story is good, the characters they use are good.

One character in the movie can control his adrenaline levels, and in the first fight, baki the main character has to fight off one hundred street punks as his first mission.

Read the thread opener. If you've got too much time to spend, read through this gigantic thread.

DBZ was designed for boys around 12, not 22.
On the other hand, maybe it's quite fitting for a 22 who keeps using "i" and "u."

So he should want something more mature, right?

Well then...

And that's the end of that chapter.

As for recommendations, if you still want some I second Bleach, but oppose Naruto.
Full Metal Alchemist is good though, so I'd say keep watching that.

You're going to want to watch Gundam SEED before SEED Destiny. Gundam SEED is the prequel. It is much better, and the plotline isn't a pile of crap (though still not that good).

I'm going to have to say Getbackers. I have yet to see it, but it is first on my list. The two main characters have "supernatural" powers, like in DBZ, Naruto, and Bleach. The manga is quite lengthy. I believe it spans over 30-something volumes (?), but nonetheless is highly rated.

Also, what about Street Fighter? I've seen some of it, and it is very similar to DBZ.

I found that Gundam Wing was the best in the series. Of course that's my opinion, but i found the series light hearted when it needed to be and serious at the points that mattered. There is some comedy thrown in and some great action in there. PLus the plot isn't too bad. I thought Gundam Wing was the best out of all the Gundams

similar to DBZ but a lil more mature? I'd try Bleach and Naruto since they are the big shonouns atm, along with One Piece.

Fullmetal Alchemist and Eureka 7 would probably be big hits with you too, really, I'd just try out everything that Adult Swim has to see what you are intrested in. It worked for me, just check their web site for the lists of shows they are airing or have aired in the past.

Now, I'm not recommending anything by this--it's actually a question:

Would Tenjho Tenge be something like what he's looking for? I've never seen the show myself, but I've been curious about it for awhile now. Is it like a mature form of DBZ? I know it's supposed to be an Action-Packed Shounen, so that's why I ask.

Anyway, maybe, you might like S-Cry-Ed. It's an Action-Packed Shounen, though I don't know if it's a mature version of DBZ.

In a Different Thread, I wrote:

In That Same Post, I wrote:
It's coming out October 24, 2006 and it'll be about $40 (plus or minus $5) in most places.

Hope that helps. Wink

Well, it is possible that he would like it. But in my opinion that wouldn't have much to do with his view on DBZ.

I really liked DBZ when I first started watching anime, much like GUNdown. I also hated Tenjho Tenge. Having said that, my friend really likes both.

The difference is, he is able to find fun watching fights and fan service and little else. To me, that's all Tenjho Tenge is.

I'd have to second that recommendation. Gundam Wing was my favorite out of all the Gundams. Actually, it was the only one that I ever really liked to tell the truth.

I'm been an avid fan of DB/DBZ/DBGT since I was at the age of 10 myself. It was the first anime that I ever really committed to watching from beginning to end so it still has a special place in my heart to this day. As far as Bleach and Naruto, those would be two that I would recommend as I just recently started watching both so I'm not that far into either series but I do like what I've seen so far. FMA is always a good call. It has more of a 'darker' edge to it. But if you're looking for something on the more intellectual/techie side of things, I'd have to go with Ghost in the Shell (Movies and SAC Series).
