*sigh*
And my list of reasons why I should import a Region-B player only grows. I'm curious, is Perfect Blue restored at all? It would be wonderful if we could get some type of tribute/documentary to Satoshi Kon in light of his passing. One of my favorite directors. I would love to see the rest of his work get this treatment (especially Tokyo Godfathers! ) |

As much as I love Perfect Blue, I can't imagine a blu ray would look that good unless they did some major restoration work. But who am I kidding; I'll still buy it if it gets released in America.

Geneon doesn't really have a good HD master but someone did post comparisons of the R2-J and BD-J releases http://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=106312&sid=237a7c4ecc883b38edb004b67cbad9e9#p106312 |

It probably needs a whole new transfer, again. It's been a long time since 08.

That comparison of the R2J and Blu-ray doesn't really fill me with an urge to buy the UK release unless it uses a better master
I would love to get it on Blu-ray but looking at those pics the Japanese BD is better sometimes, and worse at other times. |

Really hoping the US gets this film at some point. My favorite Satoshi Kon production.

*excitement instantly dashed after looking at the R2 DVD/BD comparison*
Yeah... Whoever made that Blu-Ray had no idea what they were doing. |

Could be, but as I've heard multiple times, the film's always looked pretty bad ever since it was new. Is the original film negative unavailable? |

I hope so too, I hope the film will look pristine and fully HD-graded on blu-ray. I don't want to see a half-a**ed work when they do HD transfer on blu-ray. |

It's nice to see that the UK anime fans will be able to buy Perfect Blue on Blu-ray. Though I too would love to see it get re-released in America, since the DVDs are very scarce to come by unless you're willing to pay a large sum for an un-open copy or pay for a unused edition. But until it gets that re-release, I'm still keeping the 2000 DVD I've own for a while.
