I always found H&C's art to be hit and miss, even in the anime. Sometimes, it's decent and other times it looks really awkward.

I think I just realized where the "inspiration" for Angelic Days came from.

I Huan's storytelling and romancy dialogue may be weak but,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is she the first Taiwanese "manga" artist (or I guess, "Ri Ben Man Hua" artist) to get published in the States?! (I'm something of a fan <3)

After all, the whole joke is that a psychological action-drama has been perverted into schoolyard fluff, but without that context, well, it turns out to be very average schoolyard fluff.

And that differs from the last two episodes, because... Rolling Eyes ?

Asuka quickly becomes a predictable, one-note character ("I hate you, Shinji! Except I secretly love you"),Rei is too saintly for her own good, and their relationships with Shinji don't develop anywhere beyond blatant hinting.

Have you even seen the show?

Are you saying that the last two episodes are comprised entirely of that one 5-minute segment?

I know you're not saying that, because that would be a monumentally stupid thing to say.

No, but obviously that 5 minute segment is the culmination of those last two episodes; and it pretty much defines the attitude Anno has towards his viewers.

What? The culmination takes place after that 5 minute segment, spoiler[when Shinji realizes that reality is entirely based on one's perception of it, and that because of this, there may be value in living.]

Also, what your saying about Anno and the ending of the series is just your theory. There are many others, including the one that says the ending to the TV series was simply because of lack of budget, among other things. And besides, what reason would Anno have to show such an attitude to his viewers if he only started receiving hate mail and the like after the series had ended? He also received praise for it, mind you, but that has no relevance to what you are saying.

So, please elaborate on your post.

The segment is the whole point of the series. The pay-off, so to speak. Everything else is just a dream.

I'm guessing his ego's the reason. He started believing his own hype.

I disagree. I think the "culmination" is just what Josh7289 said. The other-reality segment is just an example of a radically different universe Shinji could have for himself.

Nope. As far as I know, Vision of the Other Side by Yu-Chin Lin (林玉琴) was the first.

DramaQueen should unify the romanization of her name on their website: "Yu-Chin Lin" here and "Lin Yu Chin" here. That would confuse Western readers.

Honey and Clover (along with Nodame Cantable) is one of my favorite shojo titles meant for smart audiences, not just melodrama and pretty boys. I actually like the show a bit better (a rareity), but then again I've seen the the whole thing, while I've only read a bit of the manga.
I really couldn't get into Basilisk though. Art was interesting (what's with Tokugawa having a scrotum for a chin though?), but it's really only a series of fights which I found only mildly interesting. It has potential with the rivalry between the two clans, and I suspect the original novel was less about fights and looked more into the time period and the actual characters.

I don't understad how the rights to Evangelion could be turned over so easily to become "schoolyard fluff". Did Eva's rights go up for grabs? Call me a novice (which I am), but who owns Eva's rights?

Eva is Gainax's cash cow and they're milking it for all it's worth, and even more. Seeing the insane amount of merchandise that exists for it (and the decidedly fanservice-y nature of it), schoolyard fluff is nothing to be surprised of.

...why would you assume this has anything to do with the rights to the property?

Laughing This makes things interesting. Is this manga supposed to be funny? But then again I am not a big fan of anime/manga "funny".

Is the Basilisk anime better than the manga? Since the manga seems to revolve around fighting, does the anime follow the manga? This is the only reason I'd rather watch anime than read a manga, the fight scenes. Hell, it's the only reason I watch Naruto.
