CN = Cartoon Network
TCM = Turner Classic Movies

May 5th
My Neighbor Tortoro 7:30pm & 10pm CN

May 6th
Castle in the Sky 2am TCM
Porco Rosso 4:15am TCM

May 13th
Princess Mononoke 2am TCM
My Neighbor Tortoro 4:30am TCM

May 20th
Whisper of the Heart 2am TCM

There may be another Miyazaki film aired on the 20th and perhaps two more on the 27th. I'm not too sure about the timezone, but I believe all times listed are Eastern.

I have actually been wanting to watch Whisper of the Heart for quite a while now. I have heard some good things about it and am interested. But, I don't think I want to watch it at two a.m. in the morning.

It is also kind of interesting that TCM is airing more of the anime movies than Cartoon Network. If I had to guess, it would be the other way around. Plus, I only thought that Cartoon Network had been licensed for the movies (well I guess that isn't true because I remember watching my Neighbor Tortoro earlier on TCM).

The times depend on your time zone. When I checked my listings, Porco Rosso was scheduled for 1:15, not 4:15. So just a reminder for people to check their time zone.
Yes, 4:15 would be eastern time. Therefore, if I'm not mistaken, that GMT should be -4 hours, if that helps anyone.

I'm not surprised that CN isn't airing more Miyazaki. Huge networks like that always have packed schedules, so no time for feature movies unless they do a special thing for it like the month of miyazaki run. Running a movie would mean cancelling other shows. Some people happy, some people pissed off, its just a tradeoff; so why even rock the boat?
Yes, Whisper of the Heart is IMO the best Studio Ghibli Film. You should watch it if you're up that late.
I wouldn't have a problem...local insomniac here Wink

I was also wondering where you got that info. Are you like 'inside' Cool or something?

The dates listed by TCM are wrong. For some reason they consider 2am on a Saturday morning as part of Friday night. All of the TCM movies will be aired on Saturday mornings NOT Friday mornings. May 6th, 13th, and 20th. To double check your local showtimes visit tvguide.com.

I actually stumbled upon these showtimes while I was searching the tcmdb.com website.

ALL RIGHTY THEN!!!
I get to watch something after work for a change! Very Happy Gets to be a real drag working swing shift on the west coast, everything is all done, because only the east coast counts. Razz That and I have Dish instead of cable.
Guess I won't be closing the bars down in Creswell those friday nights!
Gee Wanirose, why would you think that CN would play more anime than TCM? They are saving those nights for Saved By The Bell! Rolling Eyes

Heh, heh. I guess you are right. I still can't believe that they are doing that. But I have to say, I did watch some epsides of Saved by the Bell over the summer and I thought that a couple were funny. BUT, I still don't think that that is a very smart move on their part.

Not a smart move? It beat out Futurama in rating for a couple days and ranked among the top 3 adult swim shows throughout it's 2 week run, how is that not a "smart move"? But I guess thats for another topic or a PM.

Yes, TCM actually got permission before CN. About 3 or 4 months ago they had there own tribute to Miyazaki, where I believe they showed all of his films.

And yes if you havn't seen Whisper of the Heart, If you are interested in seeing it I highly recommend it. So stay up late or tape it, you won't be disappointed. I am pretty sure this is my favorite Miyazaki film.

It does sound like a smart move right now, but do you think that these ratings will last? If so, then it was a great move on their part and I am wrong. But time will tell.

They didn't, the show only had a two week run, it's over now. People will watch anything on AS, I mean what else is there to do for the insomniac?
