Hmm... New GiTS anime. I don't know what it will be, but i do HOPE it will be the third season of SAC. Or maybe a SAC movie. Or, both?

NICE! I love GitS: SAC and 2nd GIG, but I've never seen either of the movies. What's so different between the series and the movies?

Well the movies follow the mangas story. And are very dark. Very sophisticated and inteligent. Have a very tough story to follow. The movies concentrate around talking more than action.
The series are much brighter. They do have a complex kin of story, but nowhere near the movies. They do not really follow the manga in the story part. But are more true to the manga in other ways. Such as having more characters from manga in the series. Anyway, it has more action and less talk than the moves.
I personally prefer the movies, but still LOVE the series. And as I said I would love to see the 3rd Gig, or a SAC movie. Because the series have their own feeling that is so great. And it would be very nice too see that feeling in a movie.

Oh, the series have very complex stories, it's just a different kind. The movies each have to sum up their entire thing in less than two hours, the series have a whole lot more time to work with.
The movies tend to be very "artsy" in a sense. Especially the second is very worth seeing on the big screen even if just for the animation and nothing else. But the way the movies are written means that aside from being complicated, the plot is played out in a way to deliberately keep the viewer in the dark. If you like stuff that plays with your head like that, you'll really enjoy the movies, but if not...
The series have a lot more of everything but the artsy. There's more action sequences, longer plot arcs, more humor, more characters, more plot twists, etc. The animation isn't just sheer jaw-dropping as the movies, but it's pretty dang nice as it is, definitely above par for your typical anime tv series. It's also probably a lot easier to follow, since it doesn't deliberately keep the viewer in the dark about stuff near as much as the movies do. But on the other hand, you don't get time spent on a five minute long gorgeously animated sequence, either.
So you win some, you lose some. I like both a lot, but probably not quite for the same reasons for each.

I don't know if it's related, but MoonPhase has had "Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex 3rd Season" listed with an "Under Development" under its release date for quite a while now (since the beginning of January at the very least).

There is, honestly, also the possibility that this may be an anime adaptation of the GitS manga "Man-Machine Interface".
Which would be awesome without a doubt.

I'd like a Mini-PATO variation of GITS. ^_^

I had originally stated on the Production IG forums long ago that an interview in a french magazine (around May of last year) had said that another series was currently in development. Personally, I don't know if this is good or not. I mean... there really isn't much more to talk about. Personally, i want an OVA centered around the war...

I don't really care. Whatever it is, if it is a new SAC, be it 3rd gig, an OVA or a movie is a good news. I mean, just think how good will the 3rd gig be, animation wise, compared to 2nd gig. Some nice eye candy.
And the story can only get better. Because the 2nd gig was better in the story than 1st gig. So no trouble here.
Than again. A Short OVA would have even better animation, let alone a SAC movie.
Well, we will just have to wait and see.
