Your entry for the ED song for this Ghibli movie says that its title is "Ai ha Hana, Kimi ha Sono Tane" but Nausicaa.net reports it as "The Rose". I heard a clip of this today while watching it on TCM and it definitely sounds like "The Rose" which was sung by Bette Midler in 1979. In fact, the composer listed is the same person who did Bette Midler's version, Amanda McBroom. So, I think that their ending song is basically a cover of the original "The Rose".

No. Bette Midler took no part in the creation or performance of Ai wa Hana, Kimi wa Sono Tane; Amanda McBroom, the composer / lyricist of The Rose, was credited: http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/opp/lyrics_therose_jis.txt |
