Love the use of different posters for different countries. SHAFT is really going all-out with this movie, aren't they?

And since it's being released in US theaters simultaneously with the Japanese version, I wonder if it'll get nominated for the Academy Awards? Lol, wishful thinking.

The posters are really neat.

Wish I could have gone, if only they had a day time showing in NY.

I already saw these because they're in one of the recent magazines that came out in the last month. I think it's pretty cool. I like the darker backgrounds more than the one here in Japan, though. Are they giving the posters out to the people who go, though? I already have posters for pre-ordering my tickets for both movies in Japan (which I ended up losing and had to buy again, so I have two sets of posters--I'll be giving those to my girlfriend).

Are you kidding me? Compilation movies are about the lowest of the low in terms of effort for an animation studio. Even most anime that are just recap movies at least use all new animation like Macross F/TTGL/Shana/Gintama/etc.

To call SHAFT going 'all out' is a mockery of what is simply laziness and eagerness to cash in on a cash cow.

Yeah guys, because Shaft was clearly the driving force behind these films being released, not Aniplex or anything.

Wait, so Evangelion is TV Tokyo and Nihon Ad Systems' cash cow, not Gainax?

Way more effort was put into these movies than was necessary for "just" compilation movies.

A shame only LA gets the poster. I was hoping Houston would get it, too.

Oh, and the Gurren Lagann movies were not "all new" animation, and were 27 episodes slammed into 2 movies, instead of 12 episodes put into only barely shorter a runtime. And even then, there are a number of newly animated scenes and changes above and beyond the TV -> BD changes.

If you're going to spout off, try to know what you are talking about.

Man, those guys at Shaft are such lazy, greedy chumps. They're just cashing in and slapping the exact same scenes from the TV series onto the big screen with no changes at all.

In other news, Madoka Magica fans in the UK are shaking their fists in envy.

MangaUK did tell me on Twitter though that it might be possible for the UK to get all 3 films in one showing next year.

Erm...the first two films are recaps. We've known this for ages. At least they've changed the background a bit. Sure, Tiger & Bunny added in a fair few new scenes for their movie (As Madoka is a tightly knit series,vI imagine that would have been hard here), but the ones that weren't new didn't look at all different than the TV series.

Hilarious. Check your PMs. TTGL movies did more than change a few backgrounds.

No shit. I watched the things.

That doesn't make your spectacular butthurt over these movies any more ridiculous.

I don't care if I appear as butthurt. I just wanted to correct you. I don't like people lying like you did, and I will freely call you out on it.

That was sarcasm in response to the people that were seriously complaining about it. The link shows that the screens look drastically different from the TV and BD versions of the same scene, which was why I linked to it. They're recap movies but there will be a few new scenes or changes and some sort of change to the ending, which I always figured would happen and I've heard confirmation of though I've thankfully remained unspoiled on what precisely it is. And if you look closely, I think you can see that its not just the backgrounds they changed, but the characters are slightly different as well.
