Microsoft is going to need all the help they can get selling Win 8.
Just wait until otaku find out Metro apps can only be distributed through the Windows store and that they have very strict content regulations.
It's a shame, because the system itself under the hood has some very nice features like ReFS and all the administrative tools being command-line/powershell driven, but with Microsoft deprecating the desktop and going full steam ahead with touch and ridiculously single-app focus Metro and its walled garden system, the future of windows is going to suck.

Eff Windows 8. Not even cute girls can make me want to use that piece of crap. As soon as I build myself a computer in a year I'm using Windows 7 on it.

Newegg has some nice pre-Black Friday sales between now and Thanksgiving. You should watch out for those if you're planning to build your own.

I see they're appropriately flat to go with the Metro thing.

I love Windows 8 so much, and I love these cute mascots for the OS. This really makes me love it even more than I did before.
I hate the way Windows 7 looks compared to 8. I like the more flat and square look, and I like the Metro start menu. I think it is a lot faster and more fluent.
I will be using Windows 8 on the Computer I building in December, and I will be using it on the PC tablet I plan on buying soon.
Also, I hated the mascot for Windows 7. She was not cute at all.

To represent Windows 8 in moe mascot form, she should be ridiculously fat, and completely deaf
Slightly more seriously, I'd much prefer a more chibi style to these skinny, spiky-looking girls.
And what the hell does that uniform represent? Some kind of governess/sailor look? They should just go full-out maid (representing service) or cool sci-fi attachments (representing cool futurism).

Well the characters are cute.
Windows 8 will sell, in the same sense that Vista and some of the older versions sold, because it comes pre-installed on new machines.
The telling point will be if it is upgraded to by users at large. I suspect that is where the issue will be.
Anyone want to bet how long it is before a full "Windows 7" start menu interface hack is built?

Considering there are articles out already on the ISSUES and workarounds for Windows 8 already....yeah, not touching this one with a ten foot pole. I'm going to see if I can find a decent laptop to replace my aging one now, before I'm faced with the "OMG, my only option is Windows 8!" dilemma.
Make it as cute as you want, Microsoft. You're going in the wrong direction with this. You should have stopped at Office 2010 and called it a day on "innovation".

Metro: Because acting like desktops and laptops are just giant tablets worked out so well GNOME.
At any rate, it won't stick around very long - Microsoft's institutional ADD will kick in and Windows 9 will have another abortion of a desktop replacement paradigm(of course, if they go the same route and make everything into a widget, you should at least be able to cobble something sane out of the pieces).

Yū & Ai are awesome.
All the products in the world should have a Moe mascot.
