Quote: | Mazandarani expressed great interest in Manga reissuing such former Beez licenses as Cowboy Bebop, Durarara!! and the first TV season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. "We'd love to get them into our catalogue and re-release them in the U.K." |
I would think that Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann would also be worthy of a license rescue (plus the video on Beez's complete collection was terrible, so hopefully they could fix that). Maybe Wolf's Rain (which again had problems with the complete collection, missing episodes to be exact, and no, they were not just the recaps), or Eureka Seven? Sword of the Stranger might be worth picking up and putting out on BD again. I could list quite a bit more stuff that I own or want to that they released, but those are things that come to mind as stuff that might actually sell well. It would be good if they rereleased The Tatami Galaxy as that doesn't have a u.s. release (though it does have an australian one), maybe they could find a way to successfully market it to the broader arthouse crowd who wouldn't usually go for anime (especially TV series).

Jerome also said that they are interested in re-releasing Elfen Lied. If they can nab the OVA, that would make me double dip (I already own the ADV release).

Quote: | - Kaze has Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail scheduled for next year. (However, Kaze has separately confirmed to ANN this is a 'tentative' schedule, provisional on the anime being dubbed.) |
Could someone please make this sentence simple for me? I'm not a native English speaker and this sentence made me little confused.
So what does this mean? Are they uncertain if they're going to include a dub?

sorry, it was my poor wording, I'll amend it. It means that it depends on if the anime gets a dub.

I really hope Manga adopt that position when they acquire the licence for Evangelion 3.0. Not trying to sound like a Subtitle elitest or anything, I just don't want to have to wait around for Funimation while they dub it when I will only watch it subbed anyways >.< Perhaps they can release 3.0 in sub only and dub it for when 3.33 (If it even ends up existing) is created.

Doubt that'll happen, since they know a dub would happen. Unlike Blue Exorcist where it wasn't known about a dub at the time near release.

If Manga E.U.K wants to urn my respect back they're going to have to do something big like get the licence to Macross and put it out on BD.

No existing subs and no PAL masters probably make that unlikely.

MangaUK did the PAL conversion for Panty & Stocking themselves, so the only issue would be the subtitles (unless something is hiding within ADV's corpse).
The big problem is though, would going through the costs of a PAL conversation (and possibly subtitling) of a 24-ish minute OVA for a rerelease of a show be worth it? Probably not.
