Hmm, I'd be interested to know who beat out Yoko Kanno for Television soundtrack in '03... may have to go research that..

Good Luck Howl's and Miyazaki!

Is it just me, or does it seem one of the "best animated video game" nomenies doesn't fit with the others?

How can anyone take these awards seriously if they have that horrible The Batman show nominated in some catagories?

Justice League Unlimited had a banner year but there's barely any love for it.

Howl's deserves absolutely no awards, for neither being captivating, coherant, original, inventive or anything else noteworthy.

I think it deserves awards for exactly all the things you just mentioned (except for being too coherant, I'll give you that one. However, even that is not necessarily a minus).

When you're trying to tell a story, it is a minus. When you try to tell a story with no real plot and end up spending two hours jumping all over the place, it's a minus. When all you're doing is rehashing previous works into someone elses story, whihc you then change around because you think you can do no wrong, it's a minus.

David Lynch made a creer out of making confusing but fascinating movies. Sometimes a movie just "works" regardless whether it "jumps all over the place or not". Howl's Moving Castle worked for me.
