I bought this little plastic tote bag the other day and I mean to sell it on eBay. I have no idea who the characters on it are, and I'm totally unfamiliar with any japanese cartoons (I hope this is the right place to be asking!) Anyways, here are some pictures of the characters. It also has some writing, mostly in japanese, which I don't understand. Where should I go to translate this?
Thanks SO MUCH for any help. - Aarika |

It kinda looks like Hello Kitty, but I have no idea. It may not even be from an anime, it might just be some character the bag's designer drew. One question though - why'd you get the bag if you didn't want it?

it's from "shueisha", so it's gotta be a character

I bought it specifically to sell on eBay - it was only 25 cents.

only name that keeps coming up is soemthing called "Tanpopo-tan" , but i can't find any info on it. Hatsue Tokoro is the Mangakai who made it.

The hiragana on the bottom say "Nyankororin"
I did a google image search and got a couple of pics. I hope this helps. |

OMG, afarris, you've digged up some really antique item!
As mentioned above, it's Nyankororin (にゃんころりん) by Hatsue TOKORO (ところ はつえ), serialized in Margaret from 26th issue of 1971 to... I can't find exactly when it ended, probably around 1976. Anyway, it has four tankoubons: (from http://park2.wakwak.com/~rikabon/books/hibai/h-tokoro.html)
たんぽぽたん is her newest work (well, still ten years old already), serialized in Ribon (or Ribon Mascot?). |
