I didn't know there was an English dub for this, does that mean it's been licensed, or is this dub from an Animax airing or something? I watched this show when it came out, and I liked it, I would be interested in seeing it again if it is released on DVD/Blu-ray.

Wow. I didn't see this coming. The animation is much nicer than the stuff Madhouse has been doing for Marvel lately (I suppose Marvel has them on a budget, since the Blade trailer is full of stills and pans).

Wonder if Sony plans a physical release for this, since it is dubbed and everything....

So if it's streaming on Crackle, does that mean no chance of a home video release? Cause if so, I'm going to be very disappointed.

When was the last time an anime streaming on Crackle got a video release in North America?
Crackle mostly streams Animax stuff and Animax doesn't release videos in North America.

My question is, why would they bother dubbing it if they don't plan on releasing it on home video?

Seems kind of reckless to put the money into an expensive English dub if they only plan on putting it online for free.

I think the odds are good we'll see a home video release SOMETIME down the road. Considering it's an Ocean Group dub, perhaps from VIZ.

Then again, this is all just speculation.

Animax shows English dubbed anime in countries other than America.
The things Crackle streams aren't exactly new and usually are licensed after Animax airs them.
Go to Crackle.com it should be obvious why they are able to do shows like Kurozuka.

Actually, looking at the vast majority of the anime they have up on Crackle..... most of it already has been. Confused

It just doesn't make much sense to me that they'd spend all the time and money not only dubbing the show in English (with a rather high-end studio like Ocean, nonetheless), but also go so far as to translate the opening and ending credits (which nobody but FUNimation even does anymore), if they weren't planning on eventually releasing it for home video.

But hey, what do I know? Rolling Eyes

Like already mentioned, Animax dub alot of shows that never make it over here.
Hayate has a dub from them.
Fairy Tail has it's own dub (different from FUNi's).
The list goes on.

Saw the show when it was released and enjoyed it alot.
Not the sort of thing that would turn a profit over here though, especially dubbed.

What studios do they use, though? Have they used Ocean in the past?

I'm just trying to understand things, here.

Too bad they didn't include Canada in the view list. The story line sparked my interest. Considering it has an English dub, I'd consider purchasing this title if it was released as DVD or BD in North America.

Can't say I agree with you. I don't believe the N. American market has shifted away from shows like these as much as the Japanese market has. Funi said Rin was a success and works like Black Lagoon and Hellsing seem to be well received here. I belive there will always be a audience for a dark actions shows with mature themes(in this case violence and sexuality).

I think this is the kind of show that may work well on SyFy or adult swim.

Thought Media Blasters got this awhile back, but I guess not. Regardless, I've been wanting to check the series out, but more importantly, it's very nice to see an Ocean dub out there, given all of the in-house dubbing and the lack there of outside of them.

Sony distributed the Animax Asia version of Nodame Cantabile with English dubbing on Crackle for a while a year or so ago. Then they suddenly and inexplicably blocked US viewers. The reason for the blocking was never explained, but it certainly wasn't because they were planning to release Nodame in R1 on optical discs.

Given that the dub is already done, it seems like it would increase the opportunity to turn a profit on it.
