I've been curious about this show for some time now. While the news of no sequel is disappointing, I think I still will get it and enjoy the ride while it lasts. I'm getting a consensus from all the posts that Stellvia is well liked; which fuels my curiosity.

Well, if they say its "impossible", then that could mean that either no one is willing to fund it, they can't come up with something they feel is decent, or they cannot get the team together to work on it in the foreseeable future.

Or, it may just be that it was a mistranslation and that its not "impossible", but rather "not right now"?

Anyhow, my vote would be on the fact that they can't get the team back together in the foreseeable future and don't feel that any replacements would do the "franchise" justice. Sort of like a comaradery thing where either everyone works on it, or no one works on it.

About your the money for the production is what I think is probably one of the most important things and since XEBEC (did do those two right?) The only project that I know of that XEBEC has is Erementar Gerad.

Well, they have been involved in a few others, most of which seemed to have panned - Fafner and Negima come to mind. Perhaps this could be related to all of the staff troubles with the Negima anime? Someone's left the company and taken some of the intellectual property with them, perhaps? It wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened.

I wish that Stellvia 2 wasn't canned but really, that's water under the bridge. I know as far as Nadesico at the end of episode 26 they allude to an upcoming sequel, I always assumed the movie was what they were refering to.

On a different note, what production probelms is Negima having? I am following the fansubs and I like the series fairly well.

There's an update on the website.

Although Babelfish doesn't make much sense, here's today's update translated via Babelfish:

It is today of yesterday, you do not see.

From that receiving the mail telephone from each direction, plan "was gone was held up says eternally," because with the notion that where you say in this industry it is not possible, as for desire the one which leaves... with received the opinion which is said. Perhaps it was radical expression certainly. With being the case that it is said, please make such.

The continuation "of ステルヴィア of outer space" became impossible. After combining, it had prepared, it discontinues also the plan "of ステルヴィア 2 of outer space", it is similar concerning the "movement battleship wild pink".

Everyone who worries, thank you.
The movement ahead this is the oven which how becomes from now on, it is not understood, but when it reaches the point where it can announce securely again and we would like to write here. Then ─ ─

Hmmm... Almost sounds like they are saying that "impossible" was too extreme and perhaps "not possible at this time" would've been more accurate.

I dunno. Maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see?

i checked the list for popularity at the time stellvia was aired.
first; fma

from what i've heard there is going to some kind of sequel to fma. maybe that would be airing at roughly the same time as the sequel to stellvia. both companies would want the biggest possible income from airing.
maybe the companies decided to air one at a time?
(the stones and beatles did just about the same thing, they didn't release albums at the same time.)

maybe i'm just out of my mind, as usual...

The website post says:
Quote:

2005/08/10 (WED)

The second paragraph, which I've highlighted in green, is the interesting part (my translation, the Babelfish sucks):
Quote:

The continuation of Uchuu no Stellvia had become impossible.* All the pre-planning for an Uchuu no Stellvia 2 came to a halt. The same applied to Kidou Senkan Nadeshiko.

(*) The word is not 無理 (muri, "unfeasible"), which is normally used to indicate a situation that is locked, but possibly solvable, but 不可能 (fukanou, "impossible") - it's a much more definite term.

It's unpleasant to say this, but it looks like production has been "indefinitely postponed" (as in, cancelled).

Well, that's a kick in the teeth. I was really looking forward to the sequel. Stellvia wasn't my most favourite anime, but it was highly enjoyable, and a sequel would only magnify that, I think.
Damn shame...

This is indeed tragic news. Even though I haven't completed the series, (still waiting for the last couple of DVDs to be released), I have really enjoyed the show. I though it an interesting story and the characters were likable and believable.

I really do wish that producers in Japan would realize that The States COUNT TOO! I mean anime is big here and getting bigger, and the fan base is increasing as well. I was in a bookstore the other day and I wandered back to the periodicals and found a group of young 10-11 year olds sitting around a huge pile of manga. Needless to say, I was very happy to see this.

I personally spent over $200 on anime last month! I mean come on! Is my money not good enough to be considered when a new anime project is started?

Ahhh!!!!
