i have been planning to purchase one of this macross frontier Blu-rays
1. Macross F (Macross Frontier) - Galaxy Tour Final in Budokan (Blu-ray) (Japan Version)
- or -
2. Macross F Chojiku Super Live Cosmic Nayaan) [Blu-Ray+DVD] (Japan Version)
***note: these products can be seen in yesasia.com
i have seen the "Macross F Chojiku Super Live Cosmic Nayaan" preview. but for the Galaxy Tour Final. i cant seem to view it since the trailer is being broadcasted by bandai visual and the content is not available in my country.
among the two which is better? and whats the main difference between the two? and for you which one will you recommend.
in my opinion i think the Galaxy Concert Tour will be a best buy for my side, since i can watch all the medias that comes with the package unlike the "Macross F Chojiku Super Live Cosmic Nayaan" the comes with DVD is in Region 2, here in the philippines we don't have region 2 DVD players. well it is doable if we use it witha a region All DVD player but its quite risky because i cannot determine the embedded security system of the disc.
for you which would you recommend ? hehe i am a macross frontier fan and i love to watch the show sadly to complete the whole series in Blu-ray you will really need to spend quite a fortune. since its only available in japan.

I own both and I can say without reservation that the second one (Cosmic Nyaan) is a lot better pretty much in every respect. Even though May'n's singing was already superb in the first show, she is magnificent in Cosmic Nyaan. Megumi has improved a lot. The quality of the recording (sound) is a lot better. The music is also somewhat better, though it was already of superb "Kanno-quality" in the Galaxy Tour; the arrangements are somewhat better and I think the drummer is better. The show itself is a lot better; it's better scripted and acted; the voice actresses and actors play more prominent roles to enhance the drama; the two singers also contribute a lot better to the story-telling aspect of the show.
Since the song lists are publicly available, probably you know this, but one thing to note is that a few famous songs like "Northern Cross" are missing from Cosmic Nyaan. But, in return, you get a lot more new songs, which are every bit as good as those few missing ones.
I'm not at all saying that the Galaxy Tour is bad. The DVD is also one of my treasures. What I'm saying is that I'm blown away by the quality of everything in Cosmic Nyaan.
Good luck.

There were two Cosmic Nyaan concerts, one at Budokan and the other at Kobe. The main disc(s) records the first concert. The extra DVD attached to the Bluray version includes "Diamond Crevasse", which wasn't sung at Budokan.
Cosmic Nyaan Bluray: The running time of the main disc is 157 minutes.
There is an extra DVD (not a Bluray).

--------------------------
Yoko Kanno plays the piano and conducts the orchestra in both 2009 and 2010 concerts.
When the 2009 concert was held, the TV anime series was nearing its end. There had already been a plenty of songs, but the number wasn't quite enough, so some songs were repeated with different arrangements during the concert (Diamond Crevasse three times, Aimo two times, Iteza Gogo Kuji two times, and Seikan Hiko two times), there were some orchestral tunes and two medley songs.
After that, Kanno composed a lot more songs for the two theater movies, most of which are included in the 2010 concert. So there is only one repeat (Merry Christmas Without You) and there are fewer orchestral tunes.
Hope this information is helpful.
Cheers,
Ryo

One more thing. You asked the question (in your private message) whether "Triangler" is included or not. A version sung by May'n and Megumi is (if I remember correctly) is included in the extra disc of the 2009 Galaxy Tour set. Maaya Sakamoto sang it in the 2009 Budokan concert as a surprise guest singer, but her performance isn't included in the disc, likely because she belongs to a different record label, which probably didn't allow it to be included. The 2010 concert didn't include "Triangler".
Regards,
Ryo
