It had to happen eventually, the shit is hitting the fan, but I'll open this thread on a positive note.
I'll be able to see Naruto. I don't much care for fansubs, as I don't like other people taking credit for others work. I like dubs. I hope the dub is a compotent one. I am very happy it it licensed.
Please keep it civil, gang
edit: CRAP, SLOPPY SECONDS (good work though Toboe!)

Heh, I wonder how much they had to pay for the license, must've been a lot.

Unless the fansubs keep coming I'll now have to wait til it comes out to finish it.

I think I just heard the sound of 50,000 Naruto fans across the US simultaneously crying. Hopefully *someone* will continue to provide them with torrents.

Considering the company in question just merged, they must have had the combined funds to pull this off.
OK, it's licensed. This means...
1. A buttload of fansubbers are out of jobs.
2. Naruto and Sakura plushies can go on sale.
3. The nail-biting over where it's gonna air can now commence!

ShoPro is Viz. Viz has done Ranma 1/2, Hamtaro, Inuyasha, to name a few.

All I can hope for is this:
1. There will be uncut DVD's sooner than 5 years from now. A lot sooner.
2. It will be aired on Adult Swim (uncut/unedited) and Toonami (cut to crap/ edited like a stripper at a 5 year olds birthday party).
3. They will say the jutsus in Japanese (Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, Baika no Jutsu, Chidori, Rasengan!)
Note how I said hope, as none of these will be followed. The DVD's just better have the Japanese audio tracks. But seeing the job they've done with Inuyasha, I do have high hopes despite the glaring odds against them.

All I have to say is finally, no more rumors. I am kind of sad about the fansubs, but there is always those sites that do it anyways. I am mostly happy about the merchandise. Now naruto headbands won't cost me $30 overseas shipping . I also can not wait to find out when they will start releasing it.

Awesome. At least this mean's they'll use Ocean Studios as the dub group. I just hope they don't take so long with releases like they're doing with Inu Yasha.

Okay, so onto the next over-hyped unlicensed shonen series craze, right?
But, in all seriousness, this is a smart business move for Viz/Shopro. First, it takes them off their Rumiko Takahashi dependancy and secondly it gives them another huge series to send over to Adult Swim.
Now the question is will it be the next Inuyasha (screaming hordes of fangirls) or the next Dragonball Z? (muttering hordes of fanboys)
