Hiya,
I've been interested in purchasing soundtracks for my favourite animes, but have read from forums and such of websites and their tendency to sell bootlegs of them. Would anyone be able to recommend LEGIT websites that sell legitimate copies of anime soundtracks? The websites I was considering purchasing off of were, Amazon or CDJapan, as it could be my first time purchasing off them, are those legit websites? |

Yes they are. I use CD Japan as they appear to have better translations on their web site, have always kept me informed of the status of my orders and delivered everything that I've ordered (including a bonus poster), and unlike Amazon.co.jp, will deliver to post office boxes in Australia. |

Right Stuf has a number of domestic release soundtracks from Geneon's heyday that are legit and not too expensive.
For more recent works--which it sounds like you are more interested in-- I go with Play-Asia. They may be out of Hong Kong, but what they sell is the authentic product. As far as Amazon, if you're going with something from Amazon itself, you should be okay, but given that sellers are individuals it becomes a gamble beyond that. I do buy from Amazon sellers from time to time and make it a point to note in feedback when I get legitimate stuff. When I see a seller with feedback comments complaining about bootlegs, I steer clear. |

I would only buy new from random sellers on Amazon. Try to also stick with people who have at least 10,000 feedback if you do buy content from overseas.
I have bought a couple "questionable" American movies from people in the U.S., and have left feedback as such. (They were probably legit, but they were listed as new and didn't have any wrap or security stickers.) It's a lot easier to fool people in foreign countries regarding bootlegs, because the wrapping and boxes can be very different. I suggest starting out at a place like CDJapan or Play-Asia and then heading over to Amazon Sellers to get it cheap. Play-Asia also has a lot of great albums on sale, but you have to go through a lot of crap in order to find the good stuff. |
