My first one was...it was either Let Me Be With You, Chobits's theme song, Minna no Tamago, Shugo Chara Doki's theme, or Sha la la-Ayakashi Night, Kekkaishi's theme. I don't remember which was first...but then...I forgot the lyrics after a year. Then I memorized Death Note's theme song The World, and now I can't remember the shorter, TV version of DN's theme. Anywho, I believe it was one of the first three, I don't remember ^^"

For me, it was InuYasha's second ending theme, Fukai Mori by Do As Infinity. After listening to it so many times watching the episodes in repeats, I memorized the TV sized version, then eventually the full version, and when I found it the English version. I hadn't listened to it in awhile, but I still find myself singing parts of the Japanese and all of the English version at times at work. Anime hyper

I think that song is what actually got me to really fall in love with Japanese music as well. ^^

Same here, it's a delightful song. I can't say for sure this was the first one I knew by heart, but it's one of them -- along with Sakura saku from Love Hina, another charming little ditty (charming little dittys are most easy to learn by heart).

One of the oldest songs I've learned by heart, and still one of my favourites, is Yume no naka e from KareKano. Again, it's an upbeat little song with a fairly simple and clearly-enunciated set of lyrics.

Yu Yu Hakusho's opening theme was the first for me, closely followed by the first opening song to Inuyasha "Change the World." I still catch myself singing both of them at times. For YYH, I learned the English version first, and later went back to watch the episodes subbed. I agree, Japanese is a beautiful language! Very Happy

Well it really depends on the definition of "memorized." If that means hymn the lyric-free music part then the first one was Sora kara Futtekita Shōjo (and Kimi wo Nosete, which basically had the same music but with vocal) from Laputa.

Ahh, while it's not the first memorized, it is one of the most memorable, particularly its "Dakishimetainoni" when spoiler[Chii's lips matches the lyric (not often seen in Japanese animation) while straighten her arms to embrace Hideki's face with her palms]. That was soooo sweet. Embarassed

Drivers High from GTO

{Personally, I really like the song "Posters who give reasons, instead of just listing" by The Sensibles. How about you? -- abunai}

This will reveal how ancient I am.

The English version of Kimba the White Lion

"Who's the king of all the beasts in Africa..."

I was singing it in the sixties! After more than 40 years I'm sure I've got the words wrong.

Oh, ha ha ha, Errinundra! Ancient? Pfffffft. It might be funny to figure out what the words you're singing actually mean and compare it to what the words actually are. Mix-ups in language can be some of the funniest. Laughing

Mine were the first opening of Pokemon and the opening of Rurouni Kenshin. In fact while I'm typing this I'm humming the theme song and getting a strange look from my girl lol.

Probably the Voltez 5 theme song. There was a Voltez 5 "craze" back then and everyone knew the song, though I'm not sure if anyone knew the correct lyrics Anime hyper

The song that I first memorized, with correct lyrics, is Yakitate!! Japan's first OP - Comet Cloud. It's really a nice song and it has harmonies that were done beautifully, so singing it by myself sounds kinda weird Anime hyper
