Fafner (TV) | So-so |
The Good: Really strong orchestral score, beautiful scenery.
The Bad: Cookie-cutter character designs that look too much like Gundam characters. The Ugly: Rather run-of-the-mill mech designs kill a series that relies upon them.

Galaxy Express 999 (TV) | |
The Good: This series was my introduction to anime.
The Bad: I only saw one episode of it. The Ugly: I only saw the episode because I was an insomniac at the time and was up for its airing at 3:30AM on Sci-Fi.

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo (TV) | So-so |
The Good: Interesting approach to art design, kudos to ingenuity.
The Bad: Very slow story progression, series strays far from source material as it moves on. The Ugly: Some of the "wallpaper-patterns" proved vomit-inducing.

Monster (TV) | Good |
The Good: Intriguing storyline with a rare anime setting in a hospital environment.
The Bad: Too long for me to watch at the time. The Ugly: *shrug*

Samurai 7 (TV) | So-so |
The Good: Interesting reinvention of the classic movie.
The Bad: Despite the money spent per episode, the animation in the series goes downhill fast and becomes almost impossible to enjoy midway through. The Ugly: Nearly every villager that appears and is male.

Samurai Champloo (TV) | Not really good |
The Good: Stylistic spin on the classic samurai theme, really strong production values concerning animation and music.
The Bad: No single major plot line gets followed to any sort of enjoyable conclusion, making the series all style and little substance. The Ugly: A series this strong in presentation has to be ruined by poor storytelling.

Texhnolyze (TV) | Bad |
The Good: Unique character designs, unique plot setting.
The Bad: No dialogue for the first 15 minutes of a series is unique and artistic, but also detrimental to hooking an audience. The Ugly: I spent almost $30 on the DVD and haven't been able to sell it to anyone.
