LIMITS Teams up with Anime Trending for Global Qualifier, Winner to Compete in Tokyo
July 17, 2024 (Tokyo, Japan): LIMITS is teaming up with Anime Trending to expand its art contest around the world.
Anime Trending will host the LIMITS x Anime Trending Global Qualifier, an online event which will be live-streamed on the weekend of August 17 via YouTube.
Applications open on July 16, and artists can submit their artwork for a predetermined set of themes. Anime Trending fans will vote for their favorites, and the Top 4 will move on to battle it out online in a single-elimination format.
The two themes for the initial round will be “Tokyo” and “Adventure.”
The winner of LIMITS x Anime Trending Global Qualifier will be flown to Japan to compete in the LIMITS Championship 2024 in Shibuya, Tokyo on October 5 and 6, for a chance to win 1,000,000 JPY.
The contest will progress in three stages:
First Place Prize: A round trip to Tokyo to compete in the LIMITS Championship 2024

In the past, international artists have performed strongly at the LIMITS World Grand Prix, with Ahmed Aldoori and Robotpencil winning 1st place in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Artists battle it out one-on-one, with two themes chosen at random and a 20-minute timer!
Each artist finds their own way to respond to the themes, expressing their skills, experience, taste, and style. Artists can use whatever process and tools they prefer, whether it's Illustration, Animation, Manga, Art, or Design!
Each battle lasts 20 minutes. The creative process and final submission are subject to evaluation, and the audience alongside a panel of judges will vote to determine the winner.

- Artists apply via creating an artwork in 20 minutes around the two themes “Tokyo” and “Adventure,” and submitting their final work alongside a 20-minute demonstration. The art submissions will be voted on by the public via Anime Trending. The application period will be open from July 16 to July 31, 11:59 pm PT. The winners will be announced on August 10.
- The Top 4 will proceed to the LIMITS x Anime Trending Global Qualifier, where they will battle it out online in a live single-elimination bracket on the weekend of August 17.
- The winner, as voted on by the audience and a panel of judges during the livestream, will go on to compete at the LIMITS Championship 2024 in Shibuya on October 5 and 6.
