Debut of Global Virtual YouTuber Group 'V&U Symphoria'
On May 8th, 2022, animation company Maro Studio Inc. debuted "Symphoria", a cast of four new virtual YouTubers, or 'VTubers,' through their YouTube channel "V&U". A VTuber is an Internet idol that uses a virtual avatar to livestream on platforms such as YouTube and Twitch.
V&U, short for "Virtual & Universe", is a joint project between Korean animation company and metaverse business Maro Studio Inc., and virtual character planning company Metaro Inc.
For the Symphoria project, they recruited talents through a global audition and collaborated with reputable writers to create each character. V&U is looking forward to a successful entry into the global market.
Maro Studio has been working on VTubers since 2019, and has been livestreaming virtual characters for more than 2,000 hours since 2011. After forming a professional team last year, they established the independent VTuber corporation Metaro Inc.
Previously, Maro Studio co-planned and produced the world's first K-pop animation, "Shining Star", in collaboration with SM Entertainment Co., and was also involved in content creation for "ae-aespa", the virtual characters of metaverse girl group "aespa".
Maro Studio's experience and technical knowledge have garnered them a strong reputation in the Virtual Entertainment industry. The studio's accolades include the Presidential Award in the animation section of the 2010 Korea Content Awards hosted by the Ministry of Culture.
