Anime USA Announces First Two Guests

Cosplay guests Marty Gear and Elizabeth Schram will attend Anime USA 2012

Anime USA is proud to announce that Marty Gear and Elizabeth “DizzyLizzy” Schram will be attending our convention as guests. For biographical information and pictures, please check out our Cosplay Guests page at animeusa.org/cosplay/

ABOUT MARTY GEAR: Marty Gear has been a costumer since he first learned to sew on his grandfather's treadle Singer sewing machine. One of the founders of the International Costumers' Guild, Marty served as its first president. He has chaired two Costume Cons, been Masquerade Director for three WorldCons, and has been a frequent Cosplay Workmanship Judge at Katsucon, Anime USA, Otakon, Dragon*Con, and the New York Anime Festival. He is also slated to be the “Maskerade” Director for the 2013 North American Discworld Convention.

When he is not judging costumes or making them, Marty M/C's the Balticon Masquerade in “full formal vampire” and in October plays a variety of vampire characters at Castle Blood in Western Pennsylvania.

ABOUT ELIZABETH “DIZZYLIZZY” SCHRAM: DizzyLizzy is a Baltimore-based Wig Commissioner, Costume Designer, Fashion Design Graduate, Bridal Seamstress, Project Runway Season 9 semi-finalist, a wacky waitress, wife, mother to one, and a Chinchilla owner. (gasps for air!) The verdict is out on if she sleeps. Costuming since 2001, she promised her husband she wouldn't be doing this when she was 30. (She's 4 years overdue on that promise! ) Over the years, DizzyLizzy has performed skits with the Agents of Cosplay and received a number of awards for craftsmanship and presentation. She loves to make costumes, goof off on stage, share knowledge, and hang out/meet new friends. She's very excited to be a part of Anime USA! Be sure to say hi!

About Anime USA: In 1999 Anime USA began as a northern Virginia convention started by fans, and in 2004 become a non-profit educational organization. Our mission is to educate the public about and promote Japanese arts and popular culture. As in the beginning, we remain a convention of fans, by fans, and for fans. Anime USA is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit.

Anime USA 2012 will be held November 9-11 in our new location: the Marriott Wardham Park in Washington, D.C. For more information and to register for the convention, visit us at www.animeusa.org
