AKB48 Spinoff Group MNL48 Disbands

The MNL48 idol group announced on its Facebook page on Wednesday that the group will cease activities at the end of the month due to being unable to sustain activities. The group released a new music video for its "Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie" song on the same day of the announcement, noting that the music video is the group's final work (the song is a Tagalog version of the AKB48 song "Koisuru Fortune Cookie").
MNL48 is the Manila-based spinoff group based on the AKB48 Japanese idol group. HalloHallo Entertainment collaborated with Philippine media company ABS-CBN to hold auditions and talent scouting for the group, beginning in August 2017.
The group's operations transferred to the Japan-based MNL48 Inc. company in April 2025, ending HalloHallo Entertainment's management of the group.
