Star Wars: The Mandalorian Adaptation Returns With New Creative Team
posted on by Egan Loo
Disney Publishing announced at the Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 event on April 18 that it will resume its adaptation of the live-action Star Wars: The Mandalorian series with a fifth volume. Cristian Polizzi is taking over the drawing duties on the adaptation, and Francesco Matteuzzi and Jacopo Silvestre are scripting the upcoming chapters.

Yūsuke Ōsawa (Star Wars: Visions' "The Ninth Jedi" manga, Spider-Man: Fake Red) drew four volumes of Star Wars: The Mandalorian: The Manga from May 2022 to October 2024. Osawa reported on April 20 that he only heard about the adaptation's return, without him on staff, from a post about the announcement two days later. He added, "Guess my dream of drawing season 2 is gone …. Dank farrik …"
Ōsawa launched The Mandalorian adaptation in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine in May 2022. Square Enix published the second volume in May 2023. Viz Media is releasing the manga in English and it shipped the second volume on May 7, 2024. Ōsawa's run on the adaptation ended in Monthly Big Gangan on October 25.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian is the first live-action series in the Star Wars franchise. Its story centers on a lone bounty hunter of the Mandalorian warrior culture, and his efforts to track down and later protect a Force-sensitive infant of the same species as Yoda. The show had three eight-episode seasons in 2019, 2020, and 2023. The Mandalorian & Grogu film will open in May 2026.
