Muse India began streaming the television anime of Kakeru Kobashiri's Zero Kara Hajimeru Mahō no Sho (Grimoire of Zero) light novels on Wednesday. The YouTube channel will stream episodes of the anime daily.

The anime premiered in Japan in April 2017 and had 12 episodes.

Tetsuo Hirakawa (Kawa no Hikari, Hori-san to Miyamura-kun) directed the series at WHITE FOX. Ryosuke Kimiya (Akame ga KILL! animation director) and Daisuke Mataga (Patema Inverted character designer) adapted Yoshinori Shizuma's original character designs for animation, and also served as chief animation directors. Infinite produced the series.

Tapimiru performed the show's opening theme song "Hakkensha wa Watashi," and Chima (Flip Flappers) performed the show's ending theme song "Hajimari no Shirushi."

The show stars:

The "grimoire fantasy" light novel series follows a witch named Zero who is ignorant of the world and a half-beast half-human mercenary who longs to be human. Witches who practice sorcery exist in the world, however, in this era no one knows how about the art and study of witchcraft. Zero is going on a journey to search for a magical tome called "The Grimoire of Zero" that hides a power that can destroy the world. The mercenary travels with her as her guard.

Yoshinori Shizuma illustrated the novel series, which won the grand prize at the 20th Dengeki Novel Awards in 2013. Kobashiri and Shizuma launched the series in 2013.

Takashi Iwasaki launched a manga adaptation in Dengeki Maoh in 2014 and ended it in June 2017. Yasuoka launched the Zero Kara Hajimeru Mahō no Sho nano! spinoff manga adaptation in Dengeki Maoh in October 2015 and ended it in March 2017.

Kobashiri's The Dawn of the Witch (Mahōtsukai Reimeiki) light novel series, set in the same universe, also got an anime adaptation in April 2022.
