The BBC website has announced that the BBC has acquired the rights to more than a thousand English-dubbed episodes of the TV series One Piece, which it will release on its BBC iPlayer platform.

The first 206 episodes of the series will be available from Sunday September 1, comprising the East Blue, Alabasta and Skypiea arcs.

A total of 1085 episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer by the end of 2024. That accounts for ten arcs of the series, up to the end of the Wano Country arc, with episode 1085 broadcast in November 2023.

The English dub of One Piece has not been previously available for streaming in the U.K.

Toei Animation's TV anime version of the manga by Eiichiro Oda began in Japan in 1999. The BBC website describes it as "an adventure story that follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew - the Straw Hat Crew – as he explores the Grand Line in search of the mythical treasure known as the “One Piece” in order to become the next King of the Pirates."
