Satoshi Kon London Double-Bill on Wednesday

Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress screenings at Ritzy Cinema in Brixton, will be introduced by hosts of Ghibliotheque podcasts

The Ritzy Cinema in Brixton will hold a double-bill screening of Satoshi Kon's films Perfect Blue (pictured right) and Millennium Actress (pictured below left), starting on 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday August 9. The screenings will be introduced by the hosts of the Ghibliotheque podcast, Michael Leader and Jake Cunningham.

The screening is described on the Ritzy website as follows:

Ahead of what would have been legendary anime director Satoshi Kon's 60th birthday, we're delighted to welcome Michael Leader and Jake Cunningham, hosts of Ghibliotheque and authors of The Ghibliotheque Anime Movie Guide, to host this very special double bill.

PERFECT BLUE

Mima is a singer-turned-actress determined to shake her pop idol image. But when her bold career choices lead to unrest in her fandom, her sense of reality begins to slip as she starts being stalked by an obsessed and dangerous fan.

MILLENNIUM ACTRESS

After an old movie studio is torn down, a documentary filmmaker tracks down its most famous, reclusive star. When he presents her with a key she had thought was gone forever, she begins to share the decade-spanning story of why she mysteriously vanished at the height of her career.
