Sola Entertainment Produces New Rick and Morty Animated Short

Adult Swim began streaming an 11-minute "The Great Yokai Battle of Akihabara" animated short on Sunday for the Rick and Morty animated television series. The short will also air on Toonami on October 16.
Masaru Matsumoto directed the short at Sola Entertainment. Sola Digital Arts Inc. produced the animation, and Yamato Works, Inc. produced the CGI. Naohiro Fukushima wrote the script, and Tetsuya Takahashi composed the music.
The short stars Youhei Tadano as Rick and Keisuke Chiba as Morty. The pair reprised their roles from the Japanese dub of the animated series. Other cast members include Akiha Matsui as Summer, Yoshito Yasuhara as Qsaku, Miho Sakurazaka as Milk, Shunsuke Nakata as Toaster A.I., Yūsuke Kondō as Shopkeeper, and MoeMi as Maid.
Adult Swim describes the short:
Rick's toaster is broken. To repair it, he and Morty must go to Akihabara to find the perfect screw, and battle an old rival along the way.
Studio DEEN previously produced a five-minute "Samurai & Shogun" animated short for the animated series that premiered in March 2020. Staff members included director and scriptwriter Kaichi Satō, producer Koji Iijima, and executive producer Maki Terashima-Furuta (President of Production I.G. USA).
Satō later revealed in an interview last December that there is a planned sequel to the short.
Adult Swim also streamed an eight-minute "Rick and Morty vs. Genocider" animated short in July 2020. Takashi Sano (Tower of God) wrote and directed the short at Telecom Animation Film. Sano was also the storyboard director and key animator.
