Yoshihiro Takahashi's Ginga Nagareboshi Gin manga is inspiring a stage play adaptation, titled Ginga Nagareboshi Gin- ~Kizuna-hen~, that will run in Tokyo and Kobe in summer 2019. Nelke Planning began streaming a teaser video for the play on Wednesday.

The story centers on an Akita dog named Gin who joins forces with dogs from throughout Japan to battle the man-eating bear Akakabuto. The manga ran from 1983 to 1987 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The series inspired the Ginga Legend Weed, Ginga Legend Weed Orion, and Ginga: The Last Wars sequels.

The play will star Hiroki Sana (The Prince of Tennis 3rd Season stage play's Kaoru Kaidō) and Naoya Goumoto (Aoharu Tetsudō stage play's Takasakisen). Gekidan Shika564's Maruichirō Maruo is writing and directing the play.

The original manga inspired a television anime adaptation in 1986, and the Ginga Legend Weed sequel inspired a television anime in 2005. ComicsOne released the Ginga Legend Weed manga in English.
