Space Bug 3DCG Anime's Trailer Streamed
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The official website for TMS Entertainment's original 3DCG television anime series Space Bug began streaming a full trailer and a 30-second version on Thursday.
The show will premiere on Tokyo MX on July 8, and will air two 11-minute episodes at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday.
The website previously revealed that an English dub is in production alongside the Japanese version, as there are plans to release the series overseas.
The show has a collaboration with the Kids Duo after-school English-language immersion program: three schools will include a Space Bug voice-acting experience as part of their summer school program this year.
The anime is set in the far future, and centers on insects left behind on a space station, who begin a grand journey to return to their hometown on Earth. The protagonists are the high-spiritied Midge, the smart Professor, and the perennially lazy Marbo.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Natsumi Ogawa as Midge, a sleeping chrinomid fly
- Tomoyuki Maruyama as the Professor, a cricket
- Yasuyuki Sano as Marbo, a spider
- Takahiro Fujiwara as Geroppa
- Kōji Ochiai as Itō
- Hideki Tanaka as Katō
- Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Ellen
- Tomisaburou Horikoshi as wan
Hiroyuki Nakao (Time Scoop Hunter) and Yoon Yoo-Byung are directing the show, and Nakao is also penning the scripts. The Gurihiru illustrator duo (Marvel Comics' The Unbelievable Gwenpool, Power Pack comic series) worked on the character designs. Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi are composing the music. Studios W.BABA and P.I.C.S. are working on the animation. SPC, TMS Entertainment, and W.BABA are producing the project in collaboration with TMS Jinni's, and TMS Entertainment is also credited for planning.
