Atlus' website for the Shin Megami Tensei video game series' 25th anniversary project revealed on Friday that the project will include a new game for Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo announced on Thursday that Atlus is developing a Shin Megami Tensei game for the Nintendo Switch console as part of the anniversary. Atlus has not confirmed if the 3DS project is the same as the Switch title, or if they will be two different games.
In a press release on Friday, Atlus USA made the following statement regarding a Western release of the Switch title:
Atlus USA currently has no information about a localization for this title, but wanted to present the details from the Japanese reveal of this title to the western market. A formal announcement will be made later for this title if a localization gets confirmed.
Atlus announced its 25th anniversary project for the franchise on Tuesday. The 25th anniversary logo references the series' first four main games that debuted in 1992, 1994, 2003, and 2013, respectively.
Atlus recently released Persona 5 — the latest installment in the spinoff series of its Shin Megami Tensei RPGs — in Japan on September 15. The game will ship in the West on April 4.
The Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse (Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final) Nintendo 3DS game shipped in Japan last February. Atlus released the game in the Americas in September, followed by Europe and Australia in December.
