March comes in like a lion Gets Spinoff Manga Set in 1969

This year's 8th issue of Young Animal magazine is announcing on Friday that Chica Umino's shogi romance manga March comes in like a lion is inspiring a spinoff manga. Hideaki Nishikawa (Z Man, Gisho Getter Robo Darkness) will launch Sangatsu no Lion Shōwa Ibun: Shakunetsu no Toki (March comes in like a lion - The Untold Showa-Era Tale: Fiery, Passionate Times) in the next issue on April 24.
The story is set in the year Showa 44 (1969), and it centers around Takanori Jingūji, the 27-year-old man who eventually become the head of the Japan Shogi Association in the main March comes in like a lion series. There was an opponent that young Jingūji had to defeat.
Umino, a creator previously known for her josei manga such as Honey and Clover, launched the original manga in the seinen (young adult male) magazine Young Animal in 2007. The story centers on Rei, a teenage player of shogi (a Japanese board game related to chess). The manga has won the Manga Taisho, Kodansha Manga Awards' Best Shōjo Manga award, and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes' Grand Prize.
Update: Honey and Clover's target corrected. Thanks, residentgrigo
