17th Animator Expo Short Is Eureka Seven Animator's 'Three Fallen Witnesses'

Japan Animator Expo, the project of weekly anime shorts from Hideaki Anno's Studio Khara and the media company Dwango, revealed on Monday that the 17th short will be "Three Fallen Witnesses" (Sanbon no Shōgensha). Satoru Utsunomiya (Eureka Seven opening) directed the short.
Japan Animator Expo offers this look at the story:
"We confirmed the first evidence. Next..."She was falling asleep before she knew it. But conversation of unknown two people kept staying in her head. "Second?"
A man and woman who call themselves polices appear before Asami. But she is still suspicious of them. What is "the fire incident without burning" they are talking? What is "the time for reproduction"?
And what is "the unavoidable third secret?"
The short will debut on Friday.
This season's remaining shorts include:
- "I can Friday by day!" by Kazuya Tsurumaki and Hajime Ueda
- "Ibusekiyoruni" (On a Gloomy Night) by Tadashi Hiramatsu and Sakaki Sazanami
- "Ochibi-san" by Moyoco Anno and Masashi Kawamura
- "Guzou Sen'iki" (Idol Warzone) by Ikuto Yamashita and Kazuhiro Furuhashi
- "2 of killers of 2" by Kazuto Nakazawa
- "Bikachō Shinshi Kaikoroku" (Memoirs of an Amorous Gentleman) by Moyoco Anno and AЯTRA entertainment
- "Hammerhead" by Ōtarō Maijō and Mahiro Maeda
Moyoco Anno crowdfunded Ochibi-san, a stop-motion feature based on her The Diary of Ochibi-san (Ochibi-san) manga.
This season's previously streamed shorts include Kanón by director Mahiro Maeda, Sex and Violence with Mach Speed by Studio Trigger's Hiroyuki Imaishi, and Obake-chan (Little Ghost) by Shigeto Koyama.
Anno himself is serving as executive producer of the entire project initiative with Dwango President Nobuo Kawakami, and he also designed the image character mascot "(Tor)-kun." Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki created the title logo, and fellow Ghibli co-founder Toshio Suzuki colored it. The shorts mostly feature the voice talent of Ranma ½ and Cowboy Bebop co-stars Kouichi Yamadera and Megumi Hayashibara.
