Pankis! 2-jigen TV Anime to Debut in January
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The television channel BS11 will air a new television anime series titled Pankis! 2-jigen (Pankis! 2D) starting on January 8. DLE is creating the anime as part of a larger "5D Project," where the five "dimensions" include an anime, a manga, music, a stage play, and voice actors. One of the goals of the new anime series is promoting the next generation of young voice actors.
The 24-episode series of six-minute episodes will air at 11:54 p.m. in Japan on Thursdays.
Parako Shinohara is directing the series, and Shinohara and Mamoru Nakano are writing the scripts. DLE is credited with the original work.
The anime's story takes place at the school for the "spirits of sound," St. Muse Academy. The students at the academy train to one day control and tune the sounds of the world so that humans can live comfortably with sound. Five students at the school who are failing are given a special mission.
While the main cast, the third year students at St. Muse Academy, are new voice actors, the Noise Brothers characters are all veteran voice actors. The cast includes:
3rd-year Students at St. Muse Academy:
Tomoyuki Ishida (Uwa-koi, Itazura na Kiss ~Love in Tokyo) as Chaiko
Masafumi Ōyama (Kamen Rider Fourze) as Rentarō
Takumi Satō (Kokuhaku, 35-sai no Kōkōsei) as Theodore
Kenta Matsui (Platonic, Kasuka na Kanojo) as Nova
Kōsei Yūki (Kiritori II stage play) as Poko
Noise Brothers:

Nobuyuki Hiyama (Bleach's Ikkaku, Kill la Kill's Uzu, One Piece's Mr. 3) as Shot
M!LK, a new five-member unit chosen from within the EBiDAN39 boy group, will perform the show's ending theme song "Coffee ga Nomemasen" (I Can't Drink Coffee). Naoto Okabe composed, arranged, and wrote the lyrics for the song. DLE posted a video of the full version of the ending theme song on Monday.
The manga version, titled Pankis!, will premiere in January 2015.
The stage adaptation, titled Pankis! 3-jigen, will be held on February 13-15 at Studio ALTA in Shinjuku. Katsuhide Suzuki is directing and writing the stage adaptation, which will star Ishida, Ōyama, Sato, Matsui, and Yuuki, as well as Junpei Shimada (Kiritori 4, Anytime.Aniwhere stage plays) and Kōhei Norizuki (Rock Musical Bleach, Altar Boys stage plays). The stage version will then screen in theaters in July 2015.
