Character planned for Wii U and 3DS versions

Nintendo announced via its Nintendo Direct presentation on Wednesday that the dog from its classic Duck Hunt NES game will join the Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS character roster.

Duck Hunt will also be available for the Wii U virtual console. The light gun shooter was first released in 1984 for the Nintendo Entertainment Systen (NES) in Japan and later as a launch title for the console's North American release in 1985. It utilized the NES Zapper gun controller.

Super Smash Bros. will utilize amiibo figures to let players train and level up their fighters.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is slated to release in North America on November 21, Europe on December 5 and Japan on December 6. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS launched in Japan on September 13, and North America and Europe on October 3.
