3DS rhythm game slated for September in N. America, Europe

The North American branch of Square Enix began streaming a trailer on Thursday for its Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call game for Nintendo 3DS. The trailer will screen at E3 in Los Angeles, June 10-12.

The game is slated for release in North America on September 16 and in Europe on September 19. A Collector's Edition limited to 5,000 copies will retail for US$69.99/£44.99 exclusively at the Square Enix Online Store. It includes a Collector's Pouch, a 20-track "The Best of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call" music CD, a five-track "Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call Remix Selections" music CD, and five premium CollectaCards from the game.

Customers who pre-order the standard edition will get an automatic upgrade to the Limited Edition which includes the Remix Selections CD.

The rhythm game sequel collects 221 songs from the Final Fantasy video games series from Square Enix (formerly Square Soft), and has appearances by over 60 characters. It also adds Versus Mode, allowing players to challenge their friends to rhythm game battles.

The game shipped in Japan in April by itself and with its own exclusive Nintendo 3DS XL variant. Square Enix filed a trademark for the title Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call in the United States last August. The first Final Fantasy Theatrhythm game came out on February 16, 2012 in Japan and on July 3, 2012 in North America.
