Mario Kart 8 Nintendo Direct Video Includes New Trailer

Baby Rosalina, Pink Gold Peach join game as playable characters
Nintendo streamed a Nintendo Direct presentation dedicated to its upcoming Mario Kart 8 game for Wii U on Wednesday. The game will ship on May 30 for US$59.99 separately and bundled with a Wii U and accessories for US$329.99.
The presentation features previews of:
- The "anti-gravity" race tracks that allow players to race along walls and even upside-down
- Car, bike, all-terrain vehicle, and prancer customization
- New characters, including the Koopalings, Baby Rosalina, and Pink Gold Peach. The game will include 30 playable characters, including the option to play as a Mii
- New items, including the Boomerang Flower, Piranha Plant, Crazy Eight, and Super Horn
- A test of which vehicles have the advantage on which courses
- The online multi-player mode up to 12 players, either with friends or online players
- Online tournaments that can be held at specific times
- The ability to play against a "ghost," a record of someone else's track run
- The Mario Kart TV that allows players to take video records of their races and upload them to YouTube
- A live performance of the game's music

Players who buy the game and register it by July 31 will receive a free download code for one of the following games: New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikman 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker HD, or Wii Party U. A similar campaign in Japan is offering Nintendo Land, Game & Wario, and The Wonderful 101 as options instead of Wii Party U.
