The Tale of Princess Kaguya voice actress Aki Asakura announced on her official blog on Saturday that she has ended her contract with TOHO Entertainment on March 31. Asakura said on her blog, "I am going to take a little break for a while, and then I think I want to start walking down a new path again."
Asakura apologized to her fans, and thanked them for all their support and all the courage they've given her over the years. According to the Nikkan Sports website, Asakura will consider going to school and doing other work aside from acting.
The 22-year-old actress played the title role in Isao Takahata and Studio Ghibli's Kaguya-hime no Monogatari (The Tale of Princess Kagura) film, which opened in Japan last year.
Asakura debuted as an actress around seven years ago, and she has played roles in Kami-sama no Karute 2, Kodoku no Gourmet, and Shiroyuki-hime Satsujin Jiken.
