Macross Frontier Film Box Promoted With 2nd Umaibō Snack Video

Namco began streaming a second promotional video for its crossover campaign between the Umaibō puffed corn snacks and Namco Bandai Games' "Macross Frontier the Movie 30th d Shudisuta b Box" set on Wednesday.

The video begins with Ranka and Sheryl holding a concert together. Sheryl tells the audience that if they eat Umaibo, a miracle will happen. However, as the two begin singing, they are dropped into a pit through a trap door. Alto flies in and joins them. In the second part of the video, Sheryl tells Alto that he should stop flying, because there are a lot of other Umaibo snacks in the world. Ranka finds them, but is once again dropped into a pit. While in the pit, her cellphone projects the words, "You win!"

The "Macross Frontier the Movie 30th d Shudisuta b Box" will ship on May 15 with English-subtitled discs. The set will include the films Macross Frontier: Itsuwari no Utahime and Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa on two discs, along with an intro sequence for the first film and a new "d Shudisuta b" ending sequence for the second film. (The intro was first shown during the first film's theatrical release, but neither the intro nor the new "d Shudisuta b" ending were included in the previous home video releases.)

The box's third disc will be the "Project F Ultimate Hybrid Disc" with never-before-released material: the "Macross Frontier the Movie Digital Archive" with the "PlayView" feature (for watching the movie with images of production materials side-by-side) and the "Macross Frontier Video Historia" that is over 250 minutes long. The Video Historia includes the new "Instructor Sheryl's 30th Anniversary Movie Document," the new "Super Galaxy-Class voice cast interviews," and the virtual "Macross Frontier Super Dimension Super Live ~PS Home kara Ai o Komete~" concert from new camera angles. The Play View feature requires a PlayStation 3 system.

This bonus disc will also have previously released material, such as Megumi Nakajima's studio report from the first film, the interview before the first film in which Shōji Kawamori explains how the VF-25 transforms, Kawamori's Macross discussion at the Machi Asobi event, the 24-episode "Macross Intelligence Agency" with bonus episodes, and Macross Frontier-related trailers and commercials. The box will bundle a 200-page A4-size Macross Frontier the Movie design/art collection and a 100-page A4-size Macross Frontier the Movie promotional illustration collection. (The Video Historia and design/art collection are now twice as big as previously advertised.)

The Blu-ray Disc version of the box will cost 16,800 yen (about US$168), while the DVD version will cost 14,800 yen (US$148). Namco Bandai Games is releasing the boxes through game retailers.
