Kane Kosugi to Star in Live-Action Tekken Prequel Film
posted on by Andre Pappas
Actor Kane Kosugi (Choy Lee Fut, Ninja 2: Shadow of a Tear) announced on his blog on December 27 that he will star in the upcoming live-action Tekken prequel. Kosugi will play the title character X in his first starring role in a Hollywood feature. The film started its principal photography this month.
Tekken: A Man Called X will serve as a prequel to the previous 2010 live-action film adaptation of Namco Bandai's Tekken fighting game franchise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crystal Sky CEO Steven Paul is planning the prequel "as part of a franchise of movies."
In North America, Anchor Bay released the 2010 film direct to video. Dwight H. Little (Halloween 4, Anacondas) directed the film, which is separate from Digital Frontier's computer-animated film Tekken: Blood Vengeance.
