1 Million PlayStation 4s Sold in 24 Hours in U.S., Canada
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Sony sold one million PlayStation 4 consoles in the first 24 hours since its launch in the United States and Canada on Friday. The PlayStation 4 is now Sony's fastest selling console during launch, surpassing the PlayStation 2. (The PlayStation 2 sold about 1 million units in the first three days of its Japanese release in 2000.)
Despite successful sales, a number of customers are reporting a "blue light of death" issue with the console launch. According to them, a blue light blinks from the console but it does not boot up. A Sony representative said that less than 0.4% of units are affected, and that they are "closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch."
