U.S. VP Biden: No Legal Issue With Taxing Violent Games, Media
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said at a Monday gun legislation strategy meeting with religious leaders that there would be no legal issue taxing violent video games and media. According to participants, the idea was presented by Reverend Franklin Graham.
Sister Marjorie Clark of the Catholic social justice organization Network reported that Biden said that there is "no restriction on the ability to do that; there's no legal reason why they couldn't [tax violent media]." Biden did reiterate President Barack Obama's desire for a comprehensive study on violent video games and movies' impact on young people. A recent study links competitive activities and aggressive behavior, but not necessarily violent video games.
