Viz Media to Release Pokémon Adventures: HeartGold SoulSilver Manga

North American manga publisher Viz Media confirmed with ANN that it will release the Pokémon Adventures: HeartGold SoulSilver manga series. Viz Media will release the first volume in the series on August 6, 2013 for US$9.99. The manga series is inspired by the Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver Nintendo DS games that Nintendo released in North America in March 2010. Those games themselves are enhanced ports of the original Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Silver Version games for the Game Boy.

Pokémon Adventures: HeartGold SoulSilver is a continuation of the Pokémon Adventures manga series by Hidenori Kusaka. In Japan, the series (originally titled Pocket Monsters Special) did not change names between story arcs; as such, volume 1 of Pokémon Adventures: HeartGold SoulSilver is the equivalent of the 41st volume of Pocket Monsters Special (pictured at right) in Japan. The Pocket Monsters Special manga featured art by illustrator Mato, although Satoshi Yamamoto has been drawing the manga since volume 10.

Viz Media will release the seventh volume of the Pokémon Adventures: Platinum manga next month.
