Phantasy Star Online 2 RPG Confirmed Heading to the West (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
The official English Sega website began streaming a video to confirm that Sega will release the Phantasy Star Online 2 role-playing game in the West. The video is essentially the same one that Sega presented for the free-to-play multiplayer online RPG at last September's Tokyo Game Show, except it ends with a English notice about the PSO2.com website that will soon open.
The game officially launched for Windows in Japan on July 4 after a beta test. An iOS and Android smartphone version will follow in Japan this winter, with the PS Vita version slated for next spring. The game will be free-to-play across all platforms. The developer had delayed the game's formal service launch until this year to make improvements. The Japanese video from Tokyo Game Show 2011 appears below:

Update: The official English website is now open, and the official English announcement video has been added. Sega confirmed its 2013 release plans for the English release.
