Shingo Honda's Hakaiju Horror Manga Gets Live-Action Short
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The official website for the Henge horror film has posted a live-action short inspired by Shingo Honda's (Ping Pong Dash!!) Hakaijū horror manga. The first two minutes of the below video contains the live-action short, and the second half is a promotional video for the Blu-ray and DVD release of Henge on July 11.
The short was created to celebrate the release of the seventh volume of Hakaijū on Friday. Honda's manga has sold more than 1 million total copies.
Hajime Ohata (Henge's director) and Kiyotaka Taguchi (Henge's special effects supervisor, Godzilla vs. Megaguirus' assistant special effects director) created the short.
Honda launched Hakaijū in Akita Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Champion magazine in 2010. The manga revolves around a high school student who loses consciousness after an earthquake. When he wakes up, his fellow students have been killed by monsters who have suddenly appeared.
