Library War Anime Film's New TV Ad Streamed
posted on by Egan Loo
Kadokawa's official YouTube Channel began streaming a new 15-second television commercial for the anime film adaptation of Hiro Arikawa's Library War light novels on Wednesday. The video features the "Hatsukoi" (First Love) theme song from Toshokan Sensō: Kakumei no Tsubasa (Library War: The Wings of Revolution) by the Japanese rock band Base Ball Bear (Gintama, Big Windup!).
The film's main cast will reprise their roles from the 2008 television series: Marina Inoue as Iku Kasahara, Tomoaki Maeno as Atsushi Dōjō, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Hikaru Tezuka, Miyuki Sawashiro as Asako Shibasaki, Akira Ishida as Mikihisa Komaki, and Kanji Suzumori as Ryūsuke Genda.
Director Takayuki Hamana (Appleseed XIII, The Beast Player Erin, The Prince of Tennis), scriptwriter Kenji Konuta, original character designer Sukumo Adabana, and the animation studio Production I.G are also returning from the television anime series.
Like the television series and two manga series before it, the film adapts Hiro Arikawa's Library War (Toshokan Sensō) light novels about a future version of Japan. A law threatens to clamp down on freedom of expression in 2019, and Iku Kasahara joins the Library Defense Force, a military unit dedicated to protecting books from being confiscated. However, she finds that the job of her childhood dreams is harder than she bargained for.
Toshokan Sensō: Kakumei no Tsubasa will open in Japan on June 16.
