Anime Expo 2012 will host the anime-inspired heavy metal band ANIMETAL USA's first concert in the United States. The Japan-based American band will also participate in a meet-and-greet event, an autograph signing session, and a focus panel. Anime Expo will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 29 to July 2.
The four-member "metal super group" consists of Mike Vescera, Rudy Sarzo, Chris Impellitteri, and Scott Travis. Former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman assists with the band's arrangements. The band released its first album in October and will release its second album W in the U.S. in June.
ANIMETAL USA collaborated with Hironobu Kageyama to perform the opening theme song "Give Lee Give Lee Rock Lee" for the Naruto Spin-Off: Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals television anime series.
Anime Expo will also host the Japanese pop singer LiSA's American debut concert. The event will also host culture blogger and television show host Danny Choo as the Master of Ceremonies. Other guests include voice actor Steve Blum and voice actress Jamie Marchi.
