Kodansha to Support Simultaneous Print/Digital Releases in Japan
posted on by Ko Ransom
Kodansha President Yoshinobu Noma announced at a company press conference on Monday that the publisher will begin implementing a system in June that will allow them to release titles simultaneously in both print and digital form, given an author's permission.
Noma added that this does not necessarily mean that all new titles will be released simultaneously when possible, as a digital release may be delayed, as "sales strategies will be taken into consideration," and because "it is uncertain if simultaneous release will necessarily maximize profits," explaining that the company would like to use trial and error to pursue an "appropriate" strategy.
