NTT Solmare Launches ComicFriends Social Manga Service
posted on by Kimberly Grace
The Osaka-based company NTT Solmare announced the launch of a new social reading service called ComicFriends earlier this month. ComicFriends encourages readers to connect with each other while enjoying a selection of manga. NTT Solmare says that the new digital comic reading service is the first of its kind on Facebook.
Using virtual currency called "Comic Powers" or Facebook credits, users can choose from over 300 digital comic book titles in Japanese, or 60 in English. ComicFriends then allows readers to write comments on the pages and share them with friends. The service also allows users to look at their friends bookshelves and see what they've read. ComicFriends users can earn more "Comic Powers" currency when they use the service, comment, or make friends. Emoticons and comment privacy settings are also available to enhance user interaction.
Available titles include:
Salaryman Kintaro
Ahhh! It's Moe Cellphone Girl Mel!
Salaryman Kintaro : Money Wars Chronicles
My Sky - Detective
Father and Son Detective
Destiny of an Emperor
Red Dragon King
Rridge: The Avenger
Manga creator Izumi Matsumoto also announced at his Katsucon panel on Saturday that the company Hivelinx plans to release his Kimagure Orange Road manga in English on ComicFriends this April.
ComicFriends is currently available in USA and Japan for Windows and Mac users. Product specifications, manga titles, and other details can be found on the ComicFriends Facebook page.
